Episode 4 - Spire, Roofing and Bell Ringing

September 26 to October 11, 2016

Tom talks about the metal shingles on the broach that are in poor condition. The metal shingles are taken down and replaced with asphalt shingles underlain with an ice water shield as well as the installation of new flashing, trim and drip edge on the broach. All new asphalt shingles, crown and seams are now installed on the spire.

The Bell Ringing Ceremony is undertaken, showing members of the congregation receiving the opportunity to ring the newly installed and functioning bell again. A very meaningful ceremony.
November 22, 2016

Tom mentions again the importance and significance of stabilizing the buttresses of the church. In turn, he shows the extremely cared for workmanship of his staff in the repointing and re-mortaring of the stone cladding and joints on the face of the church in comparison to what was there before. Tom introduces Emily who took a large part in this project with the photography and other pressing components. Tom gives a large thank you to those who took part in the repointing and the tin shaper, Lee, who was a great help with re-finishing the spire roof.
